Brazil occupies the 18th position in the list of the most supportive countries in the world, in the World Giving Index 2022, by the British organization Charities Aid Foundation. To give you an idea, donations have already exceeded the mark of BRL 1 billion donated in 2022, according to the Donation Monitor, a tool by ABCR. 

Of this amount, 3% were used in emergencies, such as the floods at the beginning of the year in Recife and Petrópolis. The other 97% are destined for the country’s development. In other words, a large part of the amount of donations is used to maintain Third Sector services.

These non-profit organizations work in favor of social well-being and citizenship, offering shelter and support to people in situations of social vulnerability. In this way, the Third Sector arrives where the State does not.

And donations are essential to ensure the continuity of organizations. More than half, 52%, have private donations as a source of funding and for 24%, donations are the main source.

Our work

According to the Institute of Applied Economic Research (IPEA), Brazil has more than 800,000 Third Sector organizations. Ramacrisna is one of them. With more than 60 years of history, the institute offers professional qualification, learning programs, sports, leisure, culture and education activities for children, youth and adults in 13 cities in the Metropolitan Region of Belo Horizonte. 

In addition, Ramacrisna works to guarantee daily and healthy food for its students, with the distribution of lunches and snacks. Over its six decades of history, the Institute has already transformed the lives of nearly 2 million people. 

Despite having self-sustainability projects, such as the Ramacrisna Fences factory, the work is only possible thanks to the contribution of sponsors, supporters and partners. 

Para se ter uma ideia, só no ano passado, o Ramacrisna realizou 3.676 atendimentos diretamente na sede do Instituto e contribuiu para a distribuição de 12.540 doações. Além disso, outros 20.543 atendimentos contaram com a parceria da prefeitura de Betim e mais 1.053 com o patrocínio da Petrobras.

Donations of food, hygiene products, cleaning products, clothes, sneakers and books benefited more than 50,000 people. For this, Ramacrisna had 12,540 donations from partners and delivered to families.

How to contribute to the Third Sector

There are several ways to make your donation to the Ramacrisna Institute. Currently, individuals and companies can contribute online, via pix or paypal, or by bank slip. To do so, simply click here, choose the form of donation and contribute with any amount. 

Another way is through the Income Tax, contributing through the Fund for the Rights of Children and Adolescents (FDCA). That is, it is a percentage of the amount that would go to the Government, you can allocate it to a Social Institution. 

• Who will define this percentage is the legislation. Federal law provides for the following rules:
• For legal entities, with taxation according to the company’s real profit, they can allocate up to 1% of the tax due to the Federal Revenue;
• Individuals can donate from 3% to 6% of income tax, depending on the moment and how this donation will be made.
• 6% within the calendar year. Direct allocations to funds made in a calendar year are only reported in the income tax return for the following year. Thus, a deposit in the FDCA account made in 2022 should only be informed in the DIRPF for fiscal year 2023, base year 2022. If in the previous year you have donated, at the time of declaration you will not be able to donate more, only if there is a balance left to reach a maximum of 3%;
• Another possibility is to make the destination in the act of the IRPF claration, in this case the amount is limited to only 3%. In this way, the calculation of this value is done automatically by the system of delivery of the declaration of the Federal Revenue in this rendering of accounts to the tax authorities. This possibility is only possible for those who make the declaration in the full format.
